About Keelung Mountain (Jilongshan)

The Difficulty Rating: ★⯪☆☆☆

Keelung Mountain (or Jilongshan 基隆山), the high hill stands to the north of Jiufen (九份) and Jinguashi (金瓜石), is an ideal location to overlook the town and the northeastern coastline of Taiwan.
The hike to the top is pretty straightforward if you follow those many many steps on the main trail, an artificial and normally busy track. There are other possible routes leading to the peak but I think none of them is easy.

The hike to Keelung Mountain as well as Teapot Mountain can be a part of your travel in Jiufen or Jinguashi. The only safety concern is the heat on a summer day that may exhaust people quickly; you may hide under one of the pavilions along the way. The panorama from the top is the best reward for the boring walk on those steps, the reason I add an additional half star to its difficulty rating. Click this link to know more.
